Nurture Nest Guide is a gentle, supportive space built for parents who are looking for guidance, reassurance, and a sense of calm in the midst of it all. But before I tell you what this place is all about, let me start with a bit of my story — and how this dream came to life.
🌸 My Story — From Dundee to Nurture Nest Guide
I was born in a small town in South Africa called Dundee, the first of four children. My dad was English, calm and thoughtful, and my mom was Afrikaans — warm, strong, and full of life. Together they showed me what it means to love deeply and care for people in small, everyday ways.
Growing up in a blended household gave me an appreciation for different perspectives and a deep respect for family. Those values shaped everything I’ve done since.
I met my husband back in the early 1980s, during my matric year — what we’d call our final year of high school. We were young and full of dreams. Three years later, we got married, and soon after, life as we knew it changed forever. Our son arrived two years into our marriage, and our daughter joined us two years later.
Those early years were a mix of joy, exhaustion, and pure love — the kind of love that’s both exhilarating and humbling. Like every parent, I stumbled plenty of times and learned even more. We didn’t have all the answers, but we did our best, one day at a time.
Now, many years later, my children are grown and married, and I’ve been blessed with a beautiful granddaughter — the sweetest little soul and a constant reminder of how precious this journey is.
Becoming a grandmother has opened a whole new part of my heart. It’s made me realize how far I’ve come, and it’s inspired me to give back — to create something meaningful for new parents who might be standing right where I once stood.
That’s how Nurture Nest Guide was born.
🌿 Why I Started Nurture Nest Guide
Parenthood is one of those experiences that connects us all, yet it’s deeply personal for every individual. No matter where we come from, every parent hopes for the same things — happy, healthy children and the confidence to guide them well.
But let’s be honest — parenting today can feel like information overload. Everywhere you look, there’s advice, opinions, and “how-to” lists. Some of it helps… some of it just makes you doubt yourself.
I remember that feeling so clearly.
When I first became a mom, I wished for one calm, understanding voice — someone who had been there and could offer honest, down-to-earth guidance without judgment. Someone who understood that love matters more than getting everything “right.”
Now, after decades of being a mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, I want to be that voice for others.
Nurture Nest Guide grew out of that wish — to share what I’ve learned, to offer small bits of practical wisdom, and to remind every parent that they don’t have to go through this alone.
